What is an RPZ Valve
The Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) Valve provides mains water protection against backflow from a fluid up to fluid category 4. The RPZ Valve has been in use throughout the UK for well over 20 years and they are becoming more and more common as they allow sites and the Water Undertakers that provide them confidence that adequate protection is in place to protect the water supply.
The testing of RPZ Valves is required under AIM-08-01 Issue 2 which is the most recent set of regulations for the RPZ Valves and was put into place in 2020. The requirements for an accredited and registered Testing Engineer to carry out the testing is set out in this AIM along with all other requirements for sites with RPZ Valves.
Annual or bi-annual servicing and testing means that RPZ Valves can be certificated to be working to the requirements of AIM-08-01 Issue 2 or for the repair or replacement of RPZ Valves that are not working to the standards required.
